Welcome to the Quest Master System Project Page. Here you will find updates, news and other important information regarding the Quest Master System and the Quest Builder.

The Quest Builder is an application that allows players of Asheron’s Call to create custom quests. These quests are run in game by the Quest Master System, a plugin for Decal. These quests allow the users of AC a great deal of flexibility in creating new content that can be shared with anyone using the Quest Master System plugin, without breaking the existing game system. This includes but is not limited to: Quests, Marathons, Scavenger Hunts, Riddle Contests, and more.

We've had a pretty successfull first week. There have been over 1200 downloads so far. Approximately 33% of the downloads were the Quest Builder, so we should start to see some more user quests very soon.

We have prepared an area of the forums for the sumbission and download of user quests, and we currently have our first user quest "Hidden Evil" available for download.

Additionally there are a number of tutorials available on our forums for the Quest Builder. One of our users, Ramu, has even created a Screen Cam tutorial of a single flag quest!! Very helpfull.

I am currently developing the new version of the system and the builder and you can see what functionality I have proposed for the next release in the General section of our forums.

 Future Plans

  1. Optimize! QMS is currently developed in VB. We are in the process of rewriting the entire system in C++ in order to ensure the greatest level of performance.
  2. Randomizers.
  3. In-Game quest distribution.
  4. Group based questing.
  5. NPC's with quest rewards!
  6. Doors and levers.
  7. In-Game quest builder assistant.
  8. Flowcharting.
  9. And so much more...

 Known Issues

  1. After selecting a quest from the drop down clicking on the Activate Quest button does nothing. QMS has been tested with the only official release of Decal 1.1.0.0. We do not currently support any other versions. Please verify that you are running 1.1.0.0. Also make sure that you have the latest versions of messages.xml and memlocs.xml. Both files can be updated by clicking on the "Update" button in the DenAgent.
  2. When log in to AC there is already a quest selected and the activate button says Continue Quest. When I click on the button nothing happens. Your quest has become out of synch with a state file. Log out of AC and go to the QMS directory in explorer. Delete the file called State.qsf. When you log in to AC again, the QMS plugin should be in its default state.
  3. How do I install new quests? Simply put any new quest files in the same directory as the QMS plugin. The next time you log into AC you should see any new quests as a choice in the Quest drop down list.

We hope you enjoy using the QMS plugin and Quest Builder. Please feel free to let us know what you think on the forums or by email to abutler@seraphimstudios.com.
